Mrs. Marcaurele’s 6th grade students were asked to write a paragraph about what Christmas meant to them. She writes: “As you can see, there are lots of wonderful family traditions and meaningful perceptions of the holiday. I hope that you enjoy reading them!”
My Christmas Traditions
On Christmas Eve, we go to my grandma’s house and we stay at her house all day. We don’t leave until 8:00 or 9:00 P.M. She gives all of her grandchildren gifts. Normally, she gives us pajamas and other presents. Later when we go home, we put on the pajamas that Grandma gave us. My siblings and I wake up super early on Christmas Day to open our presents. Then, we can finally give our presents to each other.

What Christmas Means to Me
The reason we celebrate Christmas is because it is Jesus’ birthday. Have you ever wondered where the name “Christmas” comes from? Christmas means “the mass of Christ.” People celebrate the holiday for many reasons. Some celebrate for religious purposes while others celebrate with traditions. My family does both. To me, Christmas means celebrating Christ’s birthday and gathering with family and close friends. One of our traditions is going to my Grandma Jean’s and Grandpa Dick’s on Christmas Eve. We also open one gift on Christmas Eve. Then, the next day, we open the rest of our presents and go over to my Grandma Connie’s and Papa Jim’s house. Christmas is truly one of the best times of the year. I hope it can be for you too.

Christmas Traditions
For my family, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Christ. We celebrate Christmas by giving presents on Christmas Eve. Then, the next morning, we wake up early and open our stockings. Later, we enjoy relaxing and watching Christmas movies. My birthday is six days before Christmas Day, but my favorite part of Christmas is decorating our tree. Christmas is all about enjoying family time and that is why Christmas is my favorite holiday.

The Meaning of Christmas
Christmas is a time of giving. You can give and receive gifts. You get to see your family and spend time together. Some people watch Christmas movies and drink hot chocolate. Most people decorate a tree and put ornaments and garland on their trees. Traditions make the holidays meaningful and can bring your family closer together.

The Meaning of Christmas
Christmas is about giving and receiving. It is also about Christ, religion, traditions, and family. People like to watch movies, play games, and drink hot chocolate. Some people like to put up a tree and cover it in decorations. Santa is also a great part of Christmas. Lots of people like to sleep in while others love to go out and make snow angels and snowmen. Christmas is a fun time for friends and family to get together for the holidays.

My Christmas Tradition
My favorite thing to do on Christmas is to open gifts with my family. Another tradition I participate in is going to the Christmas Stroll. I also go to church on Christmas Eve with my family. After church, we have family over to eat dinner and watch Christmas movies. My favorite movie is “The Grinch.” What do you do on Christmas?

Christmas Traditions
Have you ever wondered what some Christmas traditions are? You can decorate a tree, bake Christmas cookies, build gingerbread houses, wear ugly sweaters, and write letters to Santa. In ancient Rome, December 25th was a celebration of the Unconquered Sun, marking the return of longer days. It followed Saturnalia, a festival where people feasted and exchanged gifts. This was the first Christmas tradition. Another Christmas tradition you can celebrate is called Green Christmas or Twelfth Night, and it is celebrated on January 9th. People participate in Christmas traditions all around the world. Maybe you should give them a try.

What Does Christmas Mean to You?
To me, Christmas means spending time with my family and appreciating our Lord. One of my favorite family traditions is when we go out to the cabin and give thanks to the Lord. On Christmas Eve, we usually open only one present, so you better choose the right one! Almost every year we go up to my Grandma Jeanne’s house and have a Christmas dinner. On December 31st, my younger brother and I stay up until midnight and celebrate the New Year.

Christmas Traditions
Everyone has their own traditions that they do on Christmas Day, so I'm going to tell you about what my family does on Christmas!
On Christmas morning, we get up, careful not to look at the baskets that are prepared for us on the couch. We wake our parents up at exactly 6:00 A.M. They always tell us that we have to wait until they can sit down and have their coffee! After we open our gifts and baskets from our house, we go to my great-grandma’s house to have Christmas lunch. We usually meet Kaylan there. There is always a lot of food to choose from!
After that, we head to my Grandma Dawn's house and eat dinner there! After we eat, we go to their living room, and we exchange gifts. By the end of that, it is time for us to head to bed. We are always tuckered out due to all the places we went!
In the end, we all have fun opening presents with our family!

What Christmas Means to Me
I like Christmas because I can spend time with the family and friends I love. I can also have some hot chocolate on cold days and yummy sweets too. I also really enjoy Christmas celebrations like the Christmas Stroll and Christmas Eve! There’s always something new every year. This year, we have two weeks of vacation from school for Christmas. I get to see both my mom and my dad on Christmas break. When I’m with my mom’s side of the family, we go to my family’s ranch and celebrate there. I like wrestling or playing with my cousins while we’re at our grandparents’ house. When I'm with my dad’s side of the family, I open the presents from my dad and step mom on Christmas morning. Then, I can open the rest of my presents with my other family in the evening. After all this, I can relax the rest of the day.

What is Christmas to Me?
I believe that Christmas is and always will be Christ’s birthday. Christmas wouldn’t be a holiday and it wouldn’t have the same songs and traditions if it weren’t for Christ. The reason for giving gifts is that Christ was a gift to us. Because of his kindness to humanity, Christ will always be remembered and his birthday will remain a holiday. Merry Christmas and Jesus loves you.

My Christmas Traditions
On Christmas, we all have different traditions that we do. Christmas is a time of joy, love, and giving. Christmas is also a time that we get to spend with our family and friends. Watching football is another wonderful tradition that we do. We order our Christmas dinner online. It includes hors d’oeuvres and expensive desserts. What are some of your traditions?

What Christmas Means to Me
To me, Christmas is about spending time with my family. We open presents, watch movies, and relax. My favorite Christmas movies are “Elf” and “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.” We also go to my grandparent’s house every year for Christmas. It's fun to stay there for three days. We eat Christmas dinner and then we open presents. Do you enjoy spending time with your family on Christmas?
