Commissioner Chair Lee Randall called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioner’s office, Powder River County Courthouse. Commissioners Lori Fortner and John Olson were present.
Commissioners reviewed and approved the consent agenda. The minutes of November 11, 18 and 25th, 2024, were read, approved and ordered published.
During the day, claims were reviewed and approved for payment of various county departmental expenses as submitted by the Clerk & Recorder’s office.
The board signed journal vouchers for July to September 2024.
Treasurer Hattie Arithson met with the board to present Powder River County interest and securities. Hattie also informed the board of the new vehicle registration software upgrade.
The Montana Coal Endowment Program, MCEP, grant application was discussed. Brandon Duffy joined the meeting via phone. Duffy reported the overview of the application and stated the county has been recommended for the grant.
Local resident CJ Staiger met with the board to present ideas for an event schedule at the fairgrounds. Signage types and placement of signs were discussed.
Ron Hecker, Custer National Forest Service, met with the board to discuss various items regarding the forest. He is working on getting disaster funds for the fires. Lastly, he informed the board he will be retiring at the end of 2024.
The board discussed the need to obligate the LATCF funds by December 31, 2024. The board will continue to work with the Clerk and Recorder to finalize the requirements.
The board reviewed employee time sheets, correspondence, and other administrative issues.
Having completed all current business for the day, the board adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
