Doris Bayles

On October 15, 2024, Doris Jordan Bayles passed away peacefully of natural causes. Doris was a loved and cherished wife, mom, grandma and GiGi (great grandma) whose warmth, kindness, laughter and generosity deeply touched the lives of all of us who knew her. Her faith and devotion to her Lord Jesus Christ came at early childhood and was a hallmark of her life until the very end.

Born on October 6, 1939, in Dublin, Georgia to "Big Mama" (Julia) and "Big Daddy" (Gresham) Jordan, Doris spent an eventful childhood in Wrightsville, Georgia as the youngest of three siblings, with two older brothers, Newt and Jimmy. In the Jordan family, she was referred to as "Pete" and later "Aunt Pete" by her nieces and nephews. In 1955, the Jordan family moved to Blythe, California, along the Colorado River. While in Blythe, Doris' spunky personality was drawn to a beautiful 1957 Ford Thunderbird and almost immediately to its driver, Bob Bayles, whom she married and spent over 60 years with, raising their four children and building several successful businesses together.

As a devoted mother, Doris raised four children: Kathy, Sandy, Mike and Julie. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did. She was extremely proud of her kids, their spouses, her twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren and always found a way to make each of them feel special. Doris had a tremendous sense of humor and was a wonderful storyteller and conversationalist, and never missed a chance to lovingly joke and share her tales with family and friends. Her laughter and stories will be missed by all.

Her impact extended beyond her family, as she took an active role of service in every community she lived in. In Blythe, CA; Lander, WY; Musselshell, MT; Boyes, MT and Denver, CO, Doris played piano for her local church congregations. She was also involved in women's fellowships, Bible studies, community potlucks, and the coffee was always on when friends and neighbors stopped by for visits.

Doris was known for her nurturing spirit, always ready to lend a listening ear. Whether it was hosting family gatherings or creating cherished traditions, her home was a place of warmth and joy. She was an outstanding cook and an extremely hospitable host. Her holiday festivities are legendary. She instilled values of love, kindness and perseverance in her family, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.

Bob and Doris' dream of ranching reached its pinnacle when they bought their final ranch in Boyes, MT. Doris was a vital part of the ranching operations; driving truck, calving, acting office manager, bookkeeper and keeping the home to name a few. In 2017, her beloved Bob passed away and we rejoice that they are reunited in Heaven along with many other friends and family members. Doris is loved and missed by us all.

Graveside service will be held at Boyes Cemetery, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 with lunch following at Boyes Clubhouse.
