Broadus Sharp Shooters Receive More Upgrades

By Amber VerWolf

The Broadus Sharp Shooters have updated equipment through grants received from the NRA, the Broadus Community Endowment fund, 4-H Council, and individual donations.

The club currently provides two disciplines, air rifle and archery, for youth age 9 and older.

The club has seen tremendous growth over the past few years! This past year the NRA helped complete 10 air rifle shooting stations which include a shooting mat, glove, slings, shooting stand, kneeling roll, safety glasses, and a chamber flag.

The growing club will no longer need to use old carpet padding and folding chairs!

Broadus Community Endowment Fund grant money has been used to fill in the gaps supplying building materials for shooting targets including 2x4s, and sheet metal and an additional cabinet for equipment storage.

Air rifles have also been purchased to replace older rifles. The 4-H council encouraged and purchased the Orien scoring system to make scoring more consistent and efficient for the air rifle portion.

Broadus Feed & Supply, Denbury, D’Amico, and Cahoon families purchased three large targets for the archery portion.

The new year will kick off Monday November 25, 2024 at 4:00pm with an organizational meeting at the Fair Barn Multi-Purpose Room for both disciplines, and a short air rifle practice following and archery starting Tuesday.
