The Lady Hawk volleyball team finished off their regular season with a pair of conference wins, cementing third place in the district.
On Thursday the Lady Hawks faced Jordan at home. The previous weekend, Broadus had lost to Jordan at Jordan, and the Lady Hawks responded well to the loss to come back for a four set win.
Broadus won the first set 25-23, but lost some of their concentration in the second, losing 19-25. They rallied in the third, controlling those things they could control, as Coach Monica Smith had emphasized in other matches, and won 25-16, then cementing the win with a 25-22 fourth set victory.
The home win was a great victory for the Lady Hawks as a whole, as well as for their two seniors, Kiara Kelly and Maddie Zimmer, who played their last match on the home court, sending the seniors off with a final home victory.
On Saturday Broadus played at Terry – a team which Broadus hadn't yet seen this season, but also a team which Coach Smith said is improved from the previous season. The Lady Hawks took Terry in three, winning the first set 25-8, then coming back from a 20-22 deficit to win the second set, and winning the third handily 25-14.
The wins will hopefully provide the momentum needed for the District Tournament, beginning on Thursday, and taking place at the Dawson Community College gym in Glendive. The Lady Hawks are scheduled to take on #6 ranked Ekalaka, a team which they beat twice this season in three set matches, at around 4:00 on Halloween.
A win against Ekalaka would very likely put the Lady Hawks up against Savage on Friday, the #2 ranked team, which plays the winner of the Northern Cheyenne/Terry match.
Four teams from the 2C District will advance to the Eastern C Divisional, next week in Sidney.
