A Facelift for the Senior Center Floor

By Senior Center Director Tammy Jackman

The floor at the Senior Center recently received a facelift, courtesy of money received from the Powder River Community Endowment Fund, Julie Riley and the Senior Citizens along with the expert crew that Cole Smith brought.

We began on a Tuesday afternoon by using a dump trailer courtesy of the Lydas and a crew consisting of Bonnie and Dennis Lyda, Pastor Tom, a pallet jack donated by Carquest and of course the ever present when I need him, Richard Jackman. We took everything out of the front of the center.

Cole and his crew showed up Wednesday morning and spent 2 days sanding off the old wax, dirt, etc. It was quite a process to watch. At the end of the second day which was Thursday, they applied the first of 3 coats of commercial sealer. They put the other 2 coats of sealer on Friday and then the floor had to cure for 5 days before we could begin bringing furniture back into the building. For that process we had all the same crew with the addition of Jason Donner who was a big help.

The floor has a much lighter look to it and looks so clean. We would like to thank the PRCEF for awarding us the majority of the money through their grant and Julie for splitting the remainder with the Senior Center. We appreciate the support from the PRCEF each and every time we ask.

Stop by and take a look at our new floor and visit for awhile.
