The Hawk football team traveled to Plentywood on Thursday, October 17th.
Broadus drove the ball down the field and scored in the first quarter on a 12 yard pass from Jayce Schroeder to Logan Capp, missing the extra point attempt.
Throughout the game, Broadus was able to move the ball on Plentywood but had difficulty in completing drives, with incompletions and penalties such as false starts and two men in motion causing drives to stall.
Plentywood's taller receiver corps overmatched Broadus' Freshmen cornerbacks, and Plentywood took advantage of the mismatch to score.
Broadus once again scored in the third quarter, on a 30 yard passing play from Schroeder to Kail Irish.
The final score was 54-14 as Broadus moved to 0-7 overall.
Broadus finished the game with 248 yards of total offense, as Jayce Schroeder led the team in rushing, with 70 yards, and passed for 113 on 11 of 19 passes. Kail Irish rushed for 58 yards, averaging 4.8 yards per possession.
On defense, Irish had 6 tackles and 19 assists, and each member of the nine man strong Hawk squad had at least 1 solo tackle, the majority with several tackles a man and multiple assists.
Broadus now look towards their final game of the season, where they look to bring home a win against Poplar. Poplar's only win of the season thus far came against Wibaux, when the Longhorns forfeited due to not enough players.
Poplar lost 0-60 against Scobey last week. By comparison, Broadus lost 6-48 against Scobey in week 1.
Broadus Coach Brett Emmons told us that his game plan against Poplar is to use some mismatches to the Hawks' advantage, on the Broadus Senior Night, as six members of the Hawk squad play in their final high school football game.
Varsity action begins at 7 PM, on Friday.
