Lady Hawk volleyball went 1-1 in weekend action, securing a win against Plevna, then hosting #1 in the conference ranked Circle on Saturday evening.
The Lady Hawks made quick work of Plevna, with Plevna scoring only 23 points in total in the three set Broadus win.
Leading the Hawks were Kassie Hagedorn with 7 aces in the match, Emelyn Harper led the team with 9 kills, and Gracie Gali had 17 assists, while Macyn McDowell had 13 digs.
Broadus Head Coach Monica Smith told us Monday that a goal with the match was to limit mistakes, as unforced errors are something that can change the momentum of a match, or put a team behind, especially against a challenging opponent.
Those mistakes would return to bite the Hawks on Saturday against Circle, as the Lady Wildcats had a point to prove to keep their conference lead, taking down Broadus in three straight sets. Circle seems to have that certain something that seems to be the Lady Hawks' kryptonite, as Broadus has faced seemingly tougher opponents at tournaments this season.
The loss puts Broadus into contention for 2nd place in the conference, with the season entering its penultimate week before tournaments, beginning on Halloween. Broadus plays at Forsyth this Thursday, against a team which took Broadus to five sets in their initial meeting this season. The Lady Dogies are currently 5-2 in conference in fifth, compared to the Lady Hawks' 8-2 record in second.
Broadus then plays at Jordan on Saturday, and hosts Jordan next Thursday. Jordan is currently 4th in the conference, at 6-4.
The final regular season match will come at Terry, on October 26th.
