Lady Hawks Collect Conference Win, Place Second At SD Tourney

The Broadus Lady Hawks played Busby last week, winning handily in three straight sets. A goal with the match was to target serves to specific points and hit them to those precise points, and the Lady Hawks performed that task well – in fact out of 75 points scored by Broadus, 40 of them, or 53%, were aces.

Broadus next played on Saturday at the Belle Fourche tournament, where they faced teams from Bowman, ND, and SD teams Hill City, Lakota Tech, Hot Springs, and Edgemont. Broadus lost their first match to Hill City, then battled back through matches which included a back-to-back-to-back three matches in a row, eventually finding themselves in the winner's bracket championship...against Hill City, where the South Dakota team once again triumphed. Hill City has around 500 kids in the school district, making it considerably larger than Broadus.

Coming up this week, Broadus plays Ekalaka for Homecoming on Friday, and then travels to the Bridger Tournament on Saturday. That tournament will show Broadus teams from across the Southern C Division. In their tournament pool, other teams include Custer/Hysham (who Broadus lost to in close fashion last week in Miles City), as well as Broadview/Lavina, Colstrip, and DGSG the Dutton-Geyser-Stanford-Geraldine 4 way co-op.
