Montana Mindfulness Project hosts workshop in Broadus

By Jackie Beardsley

Mindfulness is living in the present moment. It means being more aware and awake to each moment and to be fully engaged in what is happening in one's surroundings – with acceptance and without judgment. The Montana Mindfulness Project creates programs to help youth improve attention to experience joy in their academic learning, to train in emotional regulation, and to expand and integrate successful learning in their daily life - sports, the arts, and relationships.

The Montana Mindfulness Project will present two workshops. The first will be for families and kids on Thursday, October 10th from 4:30-6:30 PM at the High School in Broadus. Folks who are interested in learning more about mindfulness are welcome to attend. A second class will be offered Friday, October 11th from 9:00- 12:00 at the high school for teachers and community members who work with youth or are interested. Three CEU credits will be offered for teachers. Participants will experience various mindfulness techniques, learn skills for mindful living and discover how mindfulness education benefits youth and adults’ mental wellness.

Montana State University Extension is co-sponsoring the workshop. Registration deadline is Monday, October 7th. To register, contact the Powder River County MSU Extension Office at 406-436-2424.
