Fall Festival Schedule Of Events

By Jessica Malone

Celebrate the changing of seasons at the Broadus Fall Festival on Saturday, October 12th in downtown Broadus sponsored by the Powder River Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture. It’s going to be a day full of fall family-fun, so check out the activities happening this year….

Start off the day with the “Studio Harvest” Art Show & Sale hosted by the Art & Soul Club in the Courthouse Lobby between 10am - 6pm. View artwork by local artists and purchase a raffle ticket for a one-of-a-kind piece of collaborative artwork.

Don’t miss the 2024 Chili Cook-Off hosted this year by the Powder River Masonic Lodge as a fundraiser for Fire Victim Relief. Participants must deliver crockpots of chili, register and pay the $25 entry fee between 10-11am at the Senior Center. More participant information and full chili cook-rules can be found on the Broadus Fall Festival Facebook event page. Chili judging will take place at 11:30 with public tasting to follow. 1st Place Prize is a $210 value “Little Powder Bundle” box of beef donated by Montana Premium Beef. 2nd Place Prize is a $100 gift card donated by Powder River Chamber. Stop by to enjoy a bowl of chili and support a great cause!

Fall Festival wouldn’t be complete without pumpkin carving, so stop by for free pumpkins hosted and sponsored by the Big Sky Bar starting at 2pm.

Enjoy these great family activities on the courthouse lawn between 1-3pm:

• Kids’ Games & Crafts sponsored by Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Clinic - Karry Sisk of EMCMHC will be hosting a free fall tree painting craft and lawn games for kids.

• Goat Flop & Petting Zoo – Petting zoo goats will be at the Fire Hall for kids and families to enjoy.

You’ve heard of Cow Pie Bingo? Buy a $50 grid square in support of the Broadus Vol. Fire Dept and win a $200 gas card donated by Powder River Chamber if the goat “flops” in your square. Visit Stockman’s Club to check out the grid and buy a square before the event.

• Donut Eating Contest – Come by the canopy for crumbtastic donuts on a string with coffee card prizes sponsored by the Powder River Senior Citizens.

Also happening on the Courthouse Lawn, enter the VFW Cornhole Tournament starting at 2pm. Register on the day with cash prizes for bracket winners! Plus, the Pet Costume Contest at 3pm. All pets are welcome with prize judging sponsored by Broadus Vet Clinic.

The Community Market and Rummage Sale will take place on the east side of the Courthouse Lawn between 1-4pm. All vendors and community members are welcome to bring your own tables/booths to set up at any time free of charge. Garden products, crafts, artwork, garage sale items, raffle tickets, anything goes!

Swing by the other Broadus business activities on Saturday, including St V’s 50% off in-store sale between 10-2 and the Silver Sage Clothing “Pick-a-Pumpkin” sale from 10-4.

As part of the Fall Festival, all K-6 grade students will receive a coloring sheet at school or can pick up a sheet from the Henry A Malley Memorial Library. Enter the Coloring Contest by submitting the completed sheet to the Library by Friday, October 11th. Entries will be judged by grade with prizes sponsored by Sagebrush Inn & Suites.

Finish off the day with dinner and dancing at the Biddle Hall Dance starting at 5pm.
