Broadus Schools will celebrate Homecoming next week, from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4.
Monday evening will be the coronation of Homecoming royalty, set for 7 pm at the high school.
A bonfire of sorts will also be held on Monday evening. A newly updated bonfire system is set to be used, using propane instead of the cardboard box burning of yore. The propane setup is expected to present a safer option to prevent an out of control fire; especially important this year with burn bans in place for Powder River County, and following a rash of wildfires across the area over the past month.
The Homecoming theme is Classic Decade Day.
Dress up days include: Monday - Patriot Day, Tuesday - Student vs. Teacher, Wednesday - Dress as your Decade, (Decades by Grade: 7th - 2000’s, 8th - 50’s, 9th - 60’s, 10th - 70’s, 11th - 90’s, 12th - 80’s), Thursday - Hawaiian, and Friday - Spirit Day, in which students will wear their green and white school colors.
Fans are encouraged to join in by wearing the Broadus school colors to the volleyball games against Ekalaka on Thursday evening (with the JH scheduled to begin at 3:30, and games progressing until the varsity at 7), as well as the football games against Forsyth on Friday, scheduled for junior high at 4:30 and varsity at 7.
Prior to the football games, a parade will be held at 2:30, with a pep assembly to follow at the courthouse.
Additionally, Powder River Manor is hosting a BBQ on Thursday from 11:30 to 1 pm.
