Commissioner Chair Lee Randall called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioner’s office, Powder River County Courthouse. Commissioners Lori Fortner and John Olson were present.

The board began the morning with Cory Chagus, Raymond Ragsdale and Carey Trumps presenting an agreement to establish mapping of coal seams, reporting and other requirements for receiving $100,000.00 grant funds from Custer County Fire.

The Hovermale Minor Subdivision survey was presented by Clerk and Recorder Cynde Jo Gatlin. No public comment was heard. The board reviewed and signed the survey and removal of the ag covenant.

Teel Mullanix, Road Supervisor, stopped in to report gravel hauling will begin on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

During the day, the claims were reviewed and approved for payment of various county departmental expenses as submitted by the clerk & recorder’s office.

The board approved the request by Heart and Soul to use the courthouse lobby during the Harvest Festival on October 11th and 12th, 2024.

The preliminary budget hearing continued. Billy Stuver, Powder River Examiner Editor, joined the meeting to inquire on the budgets.

Tuesday, September 3, 2024

Commissioner Chair Lee Randall called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioner’s office, Powder River County Courthouse. Commissioners Lori Fortner and John Olson were present.

Commissioners reviewed and approved the consent agenda.

The board signed the Behavioral Health Grant.

Teel Mullinax, Road Supervisor, met with the board. He reported the gravel hauling project started today. The Remington Fire was discussed, and Teel reported that a representative from BLM called and wanted to hire blades to put the roads back in shape from all the traffic during the fire. The crusher broke down again.

Brandon Schuetzle, Broadus High School Maintenance, met with the board to request use of the small portable bleachers to be used by the school on a yearly basis for the football season. He will pick them up and return them every year. The board approved and instructed him to reach out to county maintenance each year for communication on when they left and are returned.

Commissioners went to the landfill to review the speed limit sign request and will contact the road supervisor to order and install.

A sales representative from Department of Corrections was here to present products made from the prison.

The board continued FY24-25 budget discussions with Clerk and Recorder Cynde Gatlin.

The board spent the remainder of the day reading correspondence and taking care of various administrative duties and adjourned at 5:00 p.m.

Commissioner Chair Lee Randall called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. in the Commissioner’s office, Powder River County Courthouse. Commissioners Lori Fortner and John Olson were present.

Commissioners met to approve the budget and levies for FY24-25.

Resolution 2024-23, Resolution to Approve Budget and Levies for FY24-25, Lori Fortner motioned to approve, John Olson seconded, motion carried.

The board then met at the Community Center at 2:00 p.m. to attend a debriefing for the Remington Fire.
