Broadus Hosts Secret Shopper

Powder River Area Economic Development Council (PRAEDC) is actively working to develop community planning documents to guide economic development goals. PRAEDC is working in conjunction with the Town of Broadus and Great West Engineering to update the required Town Growth Policy and create a Downtown Master Plan, both of which will be utilized in Montana Mainstreet and Pilot Community Tourism Grant projects.

An important goal during this planning phase is to identify community assets and gain perspective on the priorities of residents and visitors. An upcoming survey for community residents will be administered by Great West Engineering, while PRAEDC takes the lead on visitor feedback. In an effort to learn how a first-time visitor experiences our community, PRAEDC has invited a “Secret Shopper” to Broadus.

The Destination Development Association has been contracted to provide PRAEDC with a comprehensive Destination Assessment report. Destination Development aims to bring local chambers of commerce, economic development practitioners, destination marketing organizations, downtown associations, and local governments together, using a common set of resources designed to get everyone on the same page, pulling in the same direction. They have “Secretly Shopped” communities all across the globe, including some within our region like Deadwood, SD and Big Timber, MT.

Following advance research, members of the Destination Development team spent three days in Broadus to experience all that our community has to offer. They visited local businesses and recreation facilities, ate in our restaurants and interacted with our residents. Now it’s time to hear the results! PRAEDC invites you to an engaging presentation on Broadus from the fresh perspective of a professional first-time visitor. Join us on Monday, September 30th at the Community Center for free food and drinks starting at 5:30pm and the captivating, photographic presentation from 6-8:30pm from the Destination Development team. Come learn what visitors love about Broadus and how we can enhance the things we enjoy the most about our community.
