Commissioner Chair Lee Randall called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioner’s office, Powder River County Courthouse. Commissioner Lori Fortner was present and Commissioner John Olson was absent.

Commissioners reviewed and approved the consent agenda.

Clerk and Recorder Cynde Gatlin met with the commissioners to continue to discuss the FY24-25 budgets.

The Board of Health meeting began at 10:30 a.m. with Darlynn Williams, Taylor Price and Abbey Barnhart present.

SDI Architects Brandon and Jenna Janshen and Great West Engineer Brandon Duffey met with the commissioners to review the upcoming Capital Improvement Plan.

The board adjourned the meeting at 3:00 p.m.

Monday, August 19, 2024

Commissioner Lori Fortner called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioner’s office, Powder River County Courthouse. Commissioner John Olson was present and Lee Randall was absent.

The commissioners authorized the clerk and recorder to public notice a change in their meeting date from Friday, August 30 to Thursday, August 29, 2024.

The clerk and recorder presented June 2024 month end bookkeeping for approval from the commissioners.

Teel Mullanix, Road Supervisor, met with the board to conduct a general department update. He updated on the gravel samples, gravel pits, and gravel hauling. The Montana Department of Labor was here to conduct a safety inspection and it went well.

The clinic budget meeting began with Vikki Klemm and Abbey Barnhart present.

DES Coordinator Becky McEuen met with the board to discuss the FY24-25 DES budget. Becky reported the federal government has decreased the overall DES budgets by 3%.

The commissioners spent the remainder of the day conducting administrative duties. After hearing no further public comment the board adjourned at 5:00 p.m.

Monday, August 26, 2024

Commissioner Chair Lee Randall called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioner’s office, Powder River County Courthouse. Commissioners Lori Fortner and John Olson were present.

Rolling Hills Golf Board member Jason Arithson met with the board to discuss the FY24-25 golf course budget. Cynde Jo Gatlin also joined the meeting to discuss the budget. Jason requested continued funding for the well house repairs.

Arnie Mader stopped in the office to inquire about the predator control budget.

Jerry Coulter stopped in the office to visit about the baseball fence. He also informed the board he is planning to host a little league tournament next year.

Christy Olson, Transportation Director, met with the board to conduct a general department update. Olson reported 2 new vans will be here as soon as she procures the vehicles. She also reported the new tire shed is here.

Billy Stuver, Powder River Examiner Editor, stopped in to inquire about the Emergency Fire Declaration.

Henry Shovic, Shovic & Associates, met at 11:00 a.m. with Sheriff Devin Boman and Raymond Ragsdale present. Henry presented the FY24-25 911 maintenance options for the county.

The preliminary budget meeting for FY24-25 was postponed to Thursday, August 29 as the clerk and recorder had personal obligations and could not be at the hearing.

Teel Mullanix, Road Supervisor, stopped in and updated on the road department equipment that was damaged in the fire.

The commissioners left the office to conduct various interviews at different county departments.
