Hawk Football Falls To Ekalaka

Broadus QB Jayce Schroeder, with Ekalaka players in hot pursuit, heaves a pass to Hawk RB Isaiah McMullan at home last Friday.

Hawk football played their second game of the year, hosting the Ekalaka Bulldogs on a lovely Friday evening.

The Hawks scored on a QB keeper in the first quarter, as Jayce Schroeder ran 40 yards for a touchdown. The two-point conversion was no good.

Throughout the game, Ekalaka's relentless rushing attack, as well as Broadus turnovers, pushed Ekalaka ahead, while miscues on offense with incomplete passes and lost yardage plays proved to be too much for Broadus, as the Hawks went down 6-16 after the first quarter, 6-30 at half time, and 6-46 to end the game.

Jayce Schroeder had one long run for 40 yards and a rushing touchdown, throwing for 33 yards on 2 of 18 passes, for an 11% completion percentage. One of those passes for 21 yards went to Jackson Knapp. Jackson had 2 solo tackles and 10 assists on defense, as well as causing a fumble, while Kail Irish had 6 solo tackles and 12 assists. Duke Blankenship had 10 tackles assists and 1 critical fumble recovery.

Broadus will go on the road this Friday to Circle, continuing their road games next week to Fairview, on Friday the 20th.

Circle beat Wibaux 54-0 on the first week of the season, and beat Scobey 20-12 (Broadus lost to Scobey 8-48 in Week 1).

Forsyth lost to Culbertson 16-54 in Week 1, and lost to Fairview 8-62 last Friday.

Broadus Head Coach Brett Emmons informed us that 12 players are likely to be available against Circle; the full complement of Hawks out for the team.
