New Venue For Youth Begins Next Week

By Tom Herzog

There will be a new look for Wednesday Night Youth interested in faith starting on September 18th. The new format will first separate High School and Jr High students. Both groups will start at 6:00 pm and hope to conclude close to 8 pm. The high-schoolers will meet at Faith Bible Church led by a variety of folks from that church. The Jr High students will meet at the high school with Our Savior’s Lutheran Church leading that group. Both will have a meal provided for their student participants.

The big change for High schoolers will be a unique offering of some life skill that is changed up each week. Some examples include basic mechanics, ping-pong & pickleball, basic home-making skills like sewing or cooking, horsemanship and introductory carpentry. The hope is to connect students to people that they might learn from in these areas of interest, but also in the broader realm of the Christian faith.

The Bible says, “whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord.” So we hope to show how God can be seen in the things we do for work, exercise, relationship and entertainment.

The first weeks will include a night of softball, another dedicated to paintball, and more that address skinning/ processing wild game, handling a budget, painting, and even making jerky! There will be hands on introduction that will allow for further opportunities, if the students so choose. And every week will include a spiritual element that all of us would be wise to pay attention to.

We hope you will encourage the young people you may know to get involved. Our faith is so important, and we should be encouraging our young people to be attentive to that in every part of their lives.
