Hawk Football Hosts First Game Of Season Against Scobey

The Broadus Hawk football team started off the season last Friday with 8 players eligible to take the field, meaning every player had to play both sides of the ball as well as all special team plays. Meanwhile Scobey had 23 players on the roster, and quickly ran the score up 22-0 over the Hawks in the first quarter.

Broadus scored a touchdown in the second quarter, with a 23 yard pass from QB Jayce Shroeder to Tight End Kail Irish. Schroeder ran the ball in on the two point conversion to give the Hawks 8 points in total.

In the third quarter, the Hawks started to show signs of fatigue, with a player going down with a cramp but able to return to the field of play. Midway through the third quarter another cramp cropped up, this time sidelining the player. With not enough players to field a full team, the game ended with a score of 48-8.

On offense, Jayce Schroeder had 23 yards of passing, and 26 yards of rushing. Logan Capp rushed for a 15 yard run.

On defense, Kail Irish had five unassisted tackles as well as a sack. Kordell Schonenback had 3 tackles and 7 assists, and Jackson Knapp had four solo tackles and 7 assists. Duke Blankenship added a fumble recovery.

We learned that Broadus is expected to have 11 players available for the game against Ekalaka this Friday, meaning they should be better prepared for the action.

Brett Emmons returns as Head Coach for the Hawks this season. He is assisted by Dillon Wahl and JJ McDowell.
