Letters To The Editor

Have you thought about how the future of agriculture looks?

I mean it’s terrifying if you really think about it… many of our consumers are far removed from agriculture and many honestly have no idea how or where their food and fiber comes from.

With this in mind you have to wonder how are our kids or grandkids going to keep this farm or ranch going?

Well, I'm going to say it starts by speaking up and telling our story, rather than leaving it to be told by others without hands on knowledge or worse, the goal of misrepresentation.

This is just one small piece of the equation, and another important piece is to have a united network of like-minded individuals to help tell that story and stand up for what is right. People who will go the extra mile to educate and fight for Agriculture.

Agriculture is the number one industry in our beautiful state and we are challenged every day, on many fronts and issues.

The Powder River Carter County Farm Bureau annual meeting is scheduled for September 18 at the VFW in Broadus, beginning at 5:30, and we will be discussing these topics and ways you benefit and can get involved. Our keynote speaker Andy Schwab of Northern Ag Network will be joining us to address futures as he sees them, as well.

We also want to take a moment to thank our firefighters and pray for them, our neighbors, and rain, as we battle the wildfires that are devastating our communities.
