Maxwell Butte Team Wins Ranch Rodeo

The 2024 Powder River County Ranch Rodeo was held last Friday. The rodeo was dedicated to Jim Wilson and Slug Mills, former Powder River County residents and supporters of the rodeo. Six teams competed in the four events of the rodeo. The first event was "stray gathering", where teams roped two steers by head and heeling. The second event was "sort and doctor", where the team kept a group of steers contained while sorting a designated individual from the herd, then roping and marking the yearling. "Trailer loading" was the third event, with teams roping two steers and loading them onto a trailer parked in the middle of the arena. The final event was the "scramble" combining all three previous events into one big event, with teams and cattle going all directions at once to complete the tasks in under three minutes.

Here are the first place teams in each event, with their winnings and time in minutes and seconds.
