New Deputy Dons The Badge

A new Powder River County Deputy swore-in on July 23rd in the courtroom – Lane Robinson, originally of Recluse, Wyoming.

Deputy Robinson was sworn in by Justice of the Peace Cathy Landa, with other members of the Sheriff's office also in attendance, as well as courthouse personnel and members of Robinson's family.

Lane told us that he graduated from school in Gillette, and went on to attain an Associate's in Fire Science from Casper College in 2014, then worked as a structural firefighter.

"I've always had a desire to work in civil service," he said of his history in firefighting and transition into law enforcement, minutes after donning the badge for the first time.

As Robinson held one of his four children, he went on: "I wanted to set a good example for my kids."

In his offtime, Deputy Robinson enjoys the outdoors, and looks forward to hunting with his bloodhound, Raven, which he recently used in Kentucky to track deer.

Until such time as Deputy Robinson attends the Montana Law Enforcement Academy at a date yet to be determined, he will be engaged with field training with the Deputies Cory Seamann and Ayche Draine, Undersheriff Levi Mitchell, and Sheriff Devin Boman.
