Arthur (Art) C. Brix passed away at his home in the Cispus Valley, WA on May 15, 2024, at the age of 72. Art was born in Whitefish, MT on June 6, 1951. His parents were Fred and Leona (Padgett) Brix. In 1953, his sister, Evelyn, was born. The family moved to Randle, WA in the early 1960's, where Art went to school and graduated from White Pass High School in 1969. After graduation, Art enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for 4 years during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1974. Art spent time working in the woods setting chokers and eventually became a millwright, working at Mt. Adams, Max West, and other mills.
In 1978, Art married Patti Barbero at her family's ranch in S.E. Montana. Together they made their home in Randle and the Cispus Valley, where they raised their children, Carole, born in 1979 and Craig, born in 1987.
Art enjoyed riding dirt bikes, fishing, hunting, and camping in his beloved Gifford Pinchot National Forest. In his later years, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service on the road crew, before he retired.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, Fred (Fritz) and Leona (Oni) Brix. He is survived by his wife, Patti, his daughter Carole, son Craig (Molly); his four grandchildren, Jerry Bowen (Dakota), Colter, Reese, and Lydia Brix, and one great-grandchild, Charlie Bowen. Sister Evelyn Lowery, and his favorite niece, Tammy Viers.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
