Letters To The Editor

Dear Editor:

I just want to share a most enlightening experience from the 4th of July parade with you and your readers. I was riding the Auxiliary float in the parade. It was the second trip around. We were on the street somewhere between the ambulance buildings and the fire hall and I was facing the east side of the street.

As our float passed by while the many kids scrambled for candy, one young onlooker (a lad kindergarten age or younger) stood very attentively with his hand over his heart in salute to the flags. I do not know this small boy wearing a green shirt showing his patriotism and respect for the symbol of our nation, but I certainly commend him for his conduct. I also commend his parents and teachers for teaching him how to show his respect.

This young boy made my 4th of July great. Keep up the good spirit and conduct. Even though I don’t know you, I’m very proud of you and the example you’re setting.

Annie Brimmer
