Broadus Students Win STEM Award

By Libby Nisley

Earlier this year, Broadus Third Graders Jesse Barnhart, Gary Gatlin, Colton Mitchell, and Ryder Opstedahl participated in a nationwide Exploravision STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) contest, which involved designing a project.

Theirs was the top project in Montana and received an honorable mention, meaning it was in the country's top 10% of projects!

They all worked very hard both in and out of school to conduct research, write a report, and create a website for their 'Teacher's Pet' Project in which they created the idea of a robot pet for classrooms that could do everything from prevent bullying to take temperatures of students who might not be feeling well. Their efforts were sponsored by their teacher Jennifer Zellers and some parent help too.
