"Giving a Calf a Shot", "Picking a Hoof" and "Braiding a Mane" required "live" props including Moonpie (calf), Laverne (big pony) and Jack (little pony) for Kaylee, Sadie and Ali Rumph, respectively at the annual 4-H Demonstration Day on Sunday at the Powder River Courthouse. Each presentation involved "handlers" including sibling Grady and parents Evan and Jessica, exemplifying full family involvement.
"One never knows what might show up in town for Demonstration Day," commented MSU Powder River Extension Agent Julie Riley. Other interesting topics including floating a picture, making smoothies, patching a tire, building a popsicle catapult, decorating cupcakes to look like pigs, medicinal plants, fluffy butt hut (egg selling business), wood burning, Albert Einstein, trouble shooting a fishing reel; making pinwheels and demonstrating Charles Law with a homemade thermometer.
Cloverbud contestants included Ali Rumph and Riley Rodda; First Year: Riley Rumph, Sadie Rumph, Kambry Yonkee, Kaley Rumph, Grady Rumph and William Rodda. Grand Champion honors went to Kaley Rumph with siblings Sadie and Grady tying for Reserve Grand Champion. Junior participants included Hanna Dudek, Delaney Ruland, John Dudek, Clinton Handran, Kaylan Reaves and Leo Dudek. Kaylan won Grand Champion and Clinton won Reserve Grand Champion.
