Meadowlarks often mark the first sign of spring in Southeastern Montana, though they often seem to arrive just before spring snowstorms, like the bird pictured above, puffed up to keep warm in between snowstorms.
The stormy weather last week caused the rescheduling of the Miles City Track Meet to April 9th. The meet last week would've been the Broadus High School Track team's first test of the year. Instead, the team has another week to prepare, and will now be traveling to Glendive on March 28th, if the weather holds.
The golf team had decent weather until the last few days, and will start their season with a JV Golf competition in Forsyth on March 28th, and a meet at Rolling Hills Golf Course on the 29th, if the weather cooperates, which is always a bit of a question mark in March.
