SENIOR HAPPENINGS

By Senior Center Director Tammy Jackman

Happy Spring! As I write this on Thursday afternoon it is snowing outside. Very happy to see it as we need it so badly.

We took a trip on the 19th to Powderville, had lunch at the hall and then went on to Don and Ginger Johnstone’s to see all her baby animals. The ladies were able to hold baby goats and lambs and were then put to work feeding them. She had tiny baby goats, the size of my cat. I believe she told me they were Algerian dwarf goats. At any rate they were adorable. We saw a lot of new country and enjoyed the afternoon.

The last cooking class was on the 21st. It was very well attended each week and we look forward to figuring out what we will do for next year. If anyone has any idea’s please call Tammy and share them. Since cooking class is now over the SAIL exercises will go back to Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Chair Yoga will move to Thursdays at 10 a.m., with there being no Yoga class on April 11th.

Hopefully there will be some April showers so that May can bloom. I know several people (including myself) who are itching to get out into their yards, gardens and flower beds. But, if you find you have nothing to do, come down to the Senior Center, we play cards every day and welcome any new players. We can always use substitutes for 500 and Bunco so please let Tammy know if you would be interested. Bunco will be the last Thursday of the month and 500 is played every other Monday.

We would still love to have some new ladies join us for our Stitching and Lunches which will be held on April 9th and 23rd. It is such a good time just stitching and visiting with an amazing lunch to follow. Our Ladies Lunch out for the Month of April will be on the 18th at Seabeck’s at noon, we would love to have you join us.

Start watching the newspaper article and our Facebook page as I will be starting to get trips ready. I have a couple already in the works, Bighorn Battlefield, Wine Tasting in either Miles City or South Dakota, Frontier Auto Museum in Gillette and of course Shakespeare in the Park at Poker Jim Lookout. If anyone has ideas for places to visit or things to do, please let Tammy know as she is running out of ideas of her own. It doesn’t have to be a major trip.

If there is anyone who lives solely on their social security, and no long pay taxes, please give me a call. I can help fill out online the Elderly Homeowner/Renter Credit Application. It is very simple and you may get a refund.

We also have several people to thank for their donations this month: Mychaela Jackman and Donna Giacometto for eggs, Judy Collins, Jerry Strobel, Ann Mackaben, Liz Riter Little Powder 4-H Club, Mary Alice Mangen, Lisa Hart and Mary Janssen for food pantry items, Bea Knudson for playing cards and Mae Giacometto for several boxes of decorations. We appreciate each and every one of you.
