The 2024 Montana BPA State Leadership Conference was held in Billings on March 12-15, with 1,335 students and local chapter advisors from the middle level and secondary level attended.
Students from 101 Montana schools demonstrated their knowledge in business and technological skills and abilities in 93 different competitive events from within the five core assessment areas of Finance, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Digital Communication & Design, Management, Marketing & Communication and Health Administration. In addition, students attended workshops on topics like dancing and first impressions as well as a fun event featuring Karaoke.
Broadus had 12 7th/8th grade and 20 high school students on the trip under Mrs. Hartman and my advising. We also thank Ernie for his continued support in driving us around. Our students competed quite well, and many were recognized with a walk across the stage for top 10 placings individually, or top five in teams. Here are the results.
Kensi Emmons was recognized for her design of the 2024 t-shirt design. In addition, Kensi placed 7th in database. Maddie Zimmer placed 8th in Database and 2nd in Integrated Office. Mia Mader placed 3rd in Advanced Word. Justin Aye placed 1st in Integrated Office Applications. Kassie Hagedorn placed 5th in Fundamental Word and 6th in Fundamental Spreadsheet. Ava Landa placed 8th in Fundamental Spreadsheet. In addition, Justin, Kassie and Ava's Administrative Support Team placed 6th. Zeason Schaffer placed 9th in Advanced Word Processing. Along with Zeason, Shyla Madsen and Ciara McDowell's Administrative Support Team placed 9th. Zoe Page placed 10th in Legal Office Procedures. Becca Aye placed 8th in Advanced Spreadsheet. Eli Heacock placed 10th in Advanced Accounting. Finally, Kolton Turnbough placed 7th in Economic Research Individual.
In Middle Level our students had immense success. Whitney Hartman placed 2nd in Extemporaneous Speech, 1st in Financial Literacy, and 2nd in Business Math Concepts. Christian Oylear placed 4th in Graphic Design Promotion. Emelyn Harper joined Christian and Whitney for the Administrative Support Team placing 3rd and the Presentation Team placing 2nd.
Madisyn Kramme placed 8th in Digital Citizenship. Lucas Capp placed first in Human Resource Exploration. Kade Joined Madisyn and Lucas for a 1st place finish in Administrative Support Team.
Reece Emmons placed 3rd in Word Processing and 5th in Extemporaneous Speech. Addison Harper placed 9th in Human Resource Exploration. Mesa Fleming placed 10th in Graphic Design Promotion. Reece, Addison, and Mesa placed 5th in Presentation Team together.
Delaney Ruland placed 9th in Graphic Design Promotion and 2nd in Entrepreneurship Exploration. Sammie Hart placed 10th in Business Fundamentals Concepts – Open. Maggie Oylear joined Delaney and Sammie for a 9th place Visual Design Team placing.
BPA Montana students will now have the opportunity to travel to Chicago, Illinois to compete in the 2024 BPA National Leadership Conference which will be held May 10-14. Business Professionals of America is the leading CTSO (Career Technical Student Organization) for students pursuing careers in business management, finance, office administration, information technology, health administration and other related career fields. It is a fantastic opportunity for Justin, Kassie, Kensi, and Becca, as they are attending Nationals to compete and represent us well.
