Steps For Charity - Week 6

Ain’t No Step for a Stepper

By PR Extension Office

Steps for Charity steppers support vital charities, stepping out for each other and for charities in need.

The Fence Walkers sponsored by Lazy J Bar O Fencing and members John and Jenny Olson, Margaret Scoles and Cil Earley chose the Ronald McDonald House because “a friend’s child has cancer and they have been using the house while the child goes through treatment”. Ronald McDonald’s house is a nonprofit family & children's charity dedicated to supporting families with sick children in their time of need. Ronald McDonald’s houses are in many major cities and in nearby Billings, Montana.

Dumb Blondes are sponsored by the Teen 4-H Club and include Kayleigh Nisley, Laney Williams, Addison Draine and Jordyn Schroeder. This hard-working, community-service conscientious group chose the Sarina Venable Fund charity.

Sarina is well known to many of our community as one of the only female high school basketball referees. In November last year, Sarina was diagnosed with Stage 3 Leiomyosarcoma. A simple in and out procedure changed Sarina’s life when they found she had this very rare and aggressive cancer.

A benefit for Sarina is set for May 4, 2024 at the Custer County Agri Sports building in Miles City. Money or donations can be sent to Dena Lang, c/o Sarina Benefit, 1018 South Stacy, Miles City, MT.

No one fights alone, and Sarina has the Eastern Montana community including these Broadus youth and the Steps for Charity challenge behind her.
