A 2,323 acre wildfire took off Sunday near Otter, MT, just south of Custer National Forest near the juncture of Powder River, Rosebud, and Big Horn Counties.
The Otter Road fire was contained by Monday, and the cause of the fire was suspected to be a feeding pickup driving through tall grass, according to the Broadus Volunteer Fire Department. The fire was orginally listed as ~ 3800 acres, but was reduced due to more accurate mapping.
The BVFD also reported that a bunkhouse was lost in the fire.
The department reported that grass and sage are very dry right now and burn with extreme fire behavior.
