River’s Ice Breaks Up; Freezes over Again

The ice in Powder River broke up Saturday and for a few hours was running almost bankful. The ice went out at Moorhead at 2:00 am Saturday and formed temporary gorges at Bud Gay’s, Charles Huckins, and just above and below Broadus. It went out at noon at Alex Campbell's place 12 miles above Broadus, reaching the steel bridge here about 5:30. By Sunday morning there were just occasional large blocks of ice floating downstream. The cold wave the first three days of this week caused the river to freeze over again with a thin sheet of ice.

Gardner Clothing located in Missouri

Sheriff Claude Anderson has been advised by the Sheriff at Kirksville, MO., that J.R. Munden has been picked up there for questioning in regards to the clothing stolen from the Ed Gardner car near Hammond. According to the Kirksville Sheriff, clothing matching the description was found in Munden’s possession. Munden had worked at the Gardner ranch until shortly after the first of the year. Munden was not arrested as no warrant has been issued. The State extradition fund has been exhausted and it is impossible to bring back a suspect from another state under the circumstances. Sheriff Anderson had wanted to question Munden in connection with the burglary of the McCurdy Motor Company in Broadus.
