Town Council Holds Final Vote On Rate Changes

On Wednesday, January 24th, the Broadus Town Council met to hear comments on the proposed rate increases on water and garbage rates for Broadus town residents.

No comments were heard from the public regarding the matter, nor were any members of the public on hand to voice their opinions (though your intrepid reporter was on hand to document the meeting).

The board voted to go forward with the rate changes, which will go into effect for the February bill, and will be seen on the bills received in March. The vast majority of water users (327 out of 347 customers) will see an increased water bill of $7.35 per month. The increase in garbage rate will be $17.53 for residential rates, and commercial rates will be $26.30.
