Stroll On In To Local Businesses On December 7th During The Broadus Christmas Stroll

By Jessica Malone

Bust out the twinkle lights and rev up the family truckster because it’s going to be a “Fun Old Fashioned Griswold Family Christmas” this year at the 2023 Broadus Christmas Stroll!! Due to high school sports conflicts on Fridays, please note that the stroll is taking place on THURSDAY, December 7th.

Celebrate our community this holiday season at our Chamber events, including the annual Christmas Lighting Contest. Go full on Clark Griswold for a chance to be crowned the 2023 lighting champion. Don’t forget to check every bulb - businesses will be judged on the night of the stroll and residential lighting will be judged on Sunday, December 17th.

On stroll night, December 7th, enjoy an afternoon and evening out on the town of Broadus. At 5:30pm, stop by the Powder River Petals Courtyard to enjoy some Christmas music and the 4th Annual Community Tree Lighting.

Our newest Stroll tradition is the selection of a Distinguished Citizen to be honored each year at the tree lighting. The chosen individual will light the tree and an ornament with their name will be hung in commemoration. Our 2023 Broadus Distinguished Citizen is the PRCDHS Lady Hawks Volleyball Team. Come help us recognize and celebrate these girls and their historic success at the State Tournament! Keep this new tradition in mind for next year and contact a Chamber board or Christmas Stroll Committee member with your nomination.

You won’t want to miss the “Cousin Eddie” Decorated RV Show around the courthouse square. We’re serious Clark - bring your decorated recreational “ve-hicle” to town in time for the stroll and line up around the town square. To enter the competition, stop by Gardner & Billing CPA’s office and register with Melissa to receive your entry number. We hope to see your best Griswold lights and some outrageous “Cousin Eddie” costumes! A $100 prize sponsored by the Chamber will be awarded to the People’s Choice for best display, so come out and vote for your favorite! Voting ballets are also located at the office of Gardner & Billing CPAs, so be sure to submit your vote before 7pm.

While you visit our many local businesses to enjoy treats, sales and socializing, keep your eyes open for Santa! He’ll be strolling around town handing out candy canes to all the good little boys and girls! Then afterwards, join us for some NFR Calcutta rodeo action! We’ll be auctioning off the NFR teams at the Big Sky Bar starting at 7:30pm. Don’t miss your chance to win big at the finals!
