Kayleigh Nisley, Teen 4-H President, welcomed 4-H members, leaders and families to the annual 4-H awards ceremony held at the Broadus Community Center held last week. 4-H Achievement Night is a celebration of accomplishments for the 2022-2023 4-H year and is always a great deal of fun and camaraderie.
Laughter and smiles were seen and heard all around as youth played ice breaker games to start the evening. Teen 4-Hers Laney Williams, Addison Draine and Danica and Jordyn Schroeder led the activities with help from fellow Teen 4-Hers Alexis Gotfredson, Baylor Kuhbacher, Ashton Madsen, Jayce Schroeder and Rachel Rosencranz.
The teens then emceed the award ceremony for the Powder River County 4-H program that recognized 104 members, 20 leaders and their families.
Achievement of Excellence award winners were recognized for their strong 4-H showing and involvement throughout the year. Winners included Biddle Busy Beavers 4-H member Colton Jones; Liscomb Mountain 4-H member Delaney Ruland; Mizpah Masters 4-H members Kaylan Reaves, Avery Kramme, Faith Hopkins and William Rodda; Powder River Rising Stars 4-H members Clinton Handran, Sammie Hart and Paisley Harper; and, Tongue River Crossroads 4-H members John, Hanna and Noah Dudek. Achievement of Excellence award winners participated in Demonstration Day, exhibited at fair and completed records in each of their projects. They've also taken their 4-H involvement to the next level by either promoting 4-H, leading an educational workshop, helping someone with their project or participating in a community service activity.
Kayleigh Nisley and Delaney Ruland received top fair exhibitor awards in the senior and junior division for the quality and quantity of exhibits entered at the fair. Award sponsors are John and Julie Riley and Tim and Gaylene Fortner.
4-H Club secretaries were recognized and included Clinton Handran, Krystin Kramme and Kassie Hagedorn. Each received a gift sponsored by Kelda Page.
Noah Dudek, Zach Jones, Reece Emmons, Lauryn Billing, Madisyn Kramme and Laney Wiliams were recognized for being Treasurers of their 4-H Clubs and received a gift of appreciation for their hardwork and diligence in keeping club financial records. The awards were sponsored by John and Julie Riley.
The 4-H Club Scrapbook is a historical record of the club's yearly achievements. Receiving recognition for the creative work on their club's scrapbooks were Sammie Hart with the Powder River Rising Stars; Hanna Dudek with Tongue River Crossroads and Faith Hopkins with Mizpah Masters. Faith was the top historian, receiving an award sponsored by the 4-H Council.
4-H Club reporters who kept the public informed of the great things happening in their clubs included Trace Emmons, Avery Kramme and Jeff Cahoon. They received gifts sponsored by Mary and Owen Rumph.
Recipients of Swine of Excellence Certificates, sponsored by the Montana Pork Producer Council were Denver, Baylor and Courtney Kuhbacher, Emelyn, Paisley and Addison Harper, Jeff Cahoon, Carson D'Amico, Alexis Gotfredson, Kinzie and Addison Randall, Mason Stephens, Rheanna Schroeder, and Kade VerWolf. Montana Certified Lamb Certificates went to Addison and Kinzie Randall, Macey Madsen, Cole Draine, Clinton Handran, Avery Kramme and Delaney Ruland. They received awards sponsored by the Montana Wool Growers Association.
The Powder River 4-H Council officers were recognized and thanked for their leadership. They included Tedi Jo Williams, President, Jamie Harper, Vice President, Meghan Phillippi, Secretary and Allan Reaves, Treasurer. Dawn Aye was recognized for her 10 years of service as 4-H Leader to the Powder River County 4-H program.
The ceremony concluded with a slideshow that highlighted 4-H members and the fun, friendship and learning they experienced throughout the year.
