A Message To Veterans

From the members of Post 1595 VFW Auxiliary

There’s a day that’s been set aside to honor you, our veterans; to show our appreciation for your commitment and sacrifice. So, on this day we do just that to let you know we haven’t forgotten all you gave. But for us we say everyday is Veterans Day, as each day you should be appreciated for all you gave. Some served on soils far far away; some in the homeland, the USA.

We thank you each day for lives put on hold to fight for your country- you’re one of the bold, for careers interrupted, for separation from family and friends, for sleeping on cots or in a trench dug deep, praying to God your soul to keep. The gut wrenching sight of injured comrades and loss of life, knowing waiting at home were parents, siblings, friends, children, or spouses.

We cannot imagine what it was like but you have our greatest appreciation for your commitment and service.

To those still with us today and to those immortal who forever sleep; to those missing in action or prisoners of war, you are forever remembered in our hearts. Each day we ask you to be comforted and cared for. So everyday the whole year we say Happy Veterans Day-we salute you. This is why just one day won’t be enough to honor the ones that have kept us Free.

With our utmost gratitude and appreciation to all of you. May everyday be your day - Veterans Day.

Loyally,

All the Members of Post 1595 VFW Auxiliary

Editor’s Note: The Hammond School will be holding a Veteran’s Day Program this Thursday at the VFW in Broadus, at 2 PM. All Veterans are invited. Veterans Day is officially November 11th.
