Audrey Kistler

Audrey A. Kistler, age 81, long time resident of Gillette, WY & Broadus, MT, passed away 09/27/2023, at her home in Commerce City, CO, which she shared with her daughter & son-in-law.

She passed due to complications with COPD, which she had for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Opal & Otto Compton; her husband Richard (Dick) D. Kistler; her sister Ellen Blakeman and her son Harold W. Morganflash.

She is survived by her children, Becky Harris (Bob), Rachel Kleinschmit (Jason) and Audie Harris (Chi). Her 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was born in Gillette on February 23, 1942, and went through school in the Gillette schools. One of her proudest accomplishments was getting her GED at the age of 57. She loved fishing and hunting from an early age. She held several different jobs while living in Gillette but her favorite by far was working at Camplex as a Groundskeeper/Custodian. She always loved working the National High School Rodeo. While working at Camplex she also worked with kids that were required to do community service, she thought fondly of all those kids that she worked with.

After she was diagnosed with COPD, she retired and made the move to north of Recluse to live full time with her husband, Dick. Together they helped and worked with many of the ranchers that lived in that area. They then made the move a little further north into Montana on Moorhead Road. They lived on property owned by George & Evelene Fulton and Hugh & Valli Fulton. Audrey considered them more like family than friends. Audrey and Dick helped the Fultons with many of the ranching duties. She had many deep & special relationships with many of the folks that lived and still live in that area.

Audrey started going into Broadus and volunteering at the Powder River Historical Museum and absolutely cherished the time she spent there talking to locals and tourists alike.

Due to her illness, the decision was made for her to move to Colorado to live with her oldest daughter, Becky, and her husband Bob in September of 2020.

At Audrey's request, no funeral services will be held. In honor of Audrey, we ask that memorials/donations be made to the Powder River Historical Museum in Broadus Montana or The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado.

Family and friends are invited to sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at http://www.horancares.com.
