Broadus XC Runs In Baker

Boys Take First Place

Broadus Cross Country ran in Baker last weekend, in Baker's inaugural XC meet. Broadus Coach Ashley Emmons told us that this is Baker's first year with an XC team, and the course, which was run on the Lakeview Country Club Golf Course, was a mostly flat course that allowed the runners to put down some great times.

Those times were so good that six Broadus runners made new personal records in the race. Additionally, the Broadus Boys placed 1st out of a field of four complete teams.

Coach Emmons told us she was proud of what the Broadus runners accomplished, especially because the team has been putting on some serious miles in practice. On Mondays, the team goes for ten mile runs. Hill runs are on Tuesdays. Intervals and speed work is another portion of training, and the Hawks are taking it in stride as judged by their times, which continue to improve. Still, their has been some soreness and this week will start with another long run, but taper off a little as the team looks to run even faster at the flat course in Miles City this weekend.

Times and places from the Baker Meet are as follows:
