The contest closed promptly at 10 o’clock Saturday evening and at that time the seal of the ballot box was broken by three judges, W.T. Waite, L.L. Brown and P.C. Jensen and the votes were canvassed by them with the following results: Miss Gladys Clark 8,815, Miss Mina Peterson 3,905, Miss Madge Marston 325, Miss Lina Lavell 205, Miss Frankie Castleberry 5. For new subscriptions and renewals, 200 votes were allowed for each. A total of 89 subscriptions were turned in for the paper, some for six months but the most for a year. There were 21 new subscriptions to the paper and 68 renewals. Of these subscriptions, 42 were cast for Miss Clark, 19 for Miss Peterson, two for Miss Marston and one for Miss Lavell.

Miss Clark is a clerk employed by the Powder River County Bank and numbers among her friends the people of Broadus and generally over the county wherever she is known. Miss Mina Peterson of Broadus received the second largest number of votes and has been named the alternate to represent this county should something unforeseen prevent Miss Clark’s attendance at the state contest in Helena.
