PR County Local Is New Broadus Postmaster

A familiar face is now the official Postmaster in Broadus, as Christina Smith Cabot takes over the position from former Postmaster Rhonda Weber.

Growing up on 15 Mile Creek in western Powder River County and graduating from high school in Broadus in 2006, Christina began working for the US Postal Service in 2011.

She amassed a great deal of experience over the ensuing years in multiple positions within the agency. Christina began as a "casual" employee in Baker, which is a USPS temporary position employed as a supplement to the workforce. She rose through the ranks, and eventually moved back home to Broadus. Over the years she has worked a variety of other jobs for USPS, from a Mail Carrier on Everett and Bonnie Burley's Sonnette mail route to supervisory roles around Montana, which are often filled by Postal Service employees from other locations when the need arises for more personnel in a specific location. In the local area, Christina also worked as a clerk in Biddle, and here in Broadus since 2019.

The variety of experiences and hometown knowledge will serve Christina well as she takes on the new role of Postmaster in Broadus. The position also serves as Postmaster for Boyes and Biddle, and operating five mail routes within the county, while helping to assure delivery of the very paper our readers hold in their hands.

On the home front, Christina enjoys the outdoors – camping, hunting, and going to the mountains with her husband, Justin Cabot. Christina and Justin were married in 2016, and have four children: Gerit, age 23, Katelynn, age 22, Talyn, age 16, and Colton, age 5.

When we spoke to Christina about her new role, she commented: "I enjoy the customers and seeing members of the community every day. There's also always something new going on, and I enjoy the challenge."

For those looking to seek their own challenges within the US Postal Service, a clerk position is currently open for hiring at Biddle.
