School Board Holds September Meeting

The Broadus School Board Trustees held their regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Monday. The short meeting was followed by a training session for trustees, provided by School Law Attorney Elizabeth Kaleva of Missoula. The board generally undertakes these training sessions around once a year to educate and inform board members about the duties of their position, and meals are provided.

Agenda items of note included hiring of custodial workers. A high school student will be doing school custodial work as a work study program. Patrick and Ashley Emmons were also hired as extra-curricular custodial workers.

Substitute teachers Emily Findlay and Mary Washburn were hired.

Volunteer positions were numerous, including Mary Washburn at Broadus Elementary, and Wrestling Volunteers Garrett Goggin, Cody Kinzer, Stephanie Schaffer, Jim Kolka, and Ishmael Perin. Additionally, Mike Richards as JH Boys Basketball Volunteer.

Richards was also approved as Assistant Girls and Boys HS Basketball Coach.

Dustin Lanke, HS PE Teacher and Coach, was approved for the student loan forgiveness program.

A high school art club proposed by Art Teacher Kate Ruland was approved.

The board also conducted the second reading of a number of board policy updates from the Montana School Boards Association.
