The district high school will have Leonard L. Brown as principal, who is here now and two other teachers who will be present. The positions were offered to certain teachers and in the event of the declination then contracts were to be wired to other available instructors.

Mr. Brown is working in complete co-operation with the board of school trustees and has their support and backing. It is upon his recommendations that the two additional high school teachers are being secured. Wild West Winners Garner $4259.15

The annual Powder River Wild West show came to a straggling end late Sunday evening August 22 with everyone apparently well satisfied with the two day show.

A crowd, at different times estimated at between 2500 and 3500 people, witnessed the two day celebration sponsored by the Powder River Club of Broadus.

Weather was at its best for both days with no threatening storms. Temperature reading for the two days was over the 100 degree mark at various readings.

The Miles City-Broadus endurance race had been called off prior to starting time. Interest was centered around the quarter mile race between a Jeep and a horse that took place during the Sunday show. Frank McLain, driving the Jeep, led most of the way to cross the finish line well ahead of the horse owned and ridden by Grant Gatlin. Time was not announced.

Celebration hungry people also witnessed two nights of boxing and wrestling promoted by Orval Carlson, two nights of dancing and the Standard Shows Incorporated carnival.

Members of the local veterans of Foreign Wars Post had charge of ticket sales at the rodeo grounds and members with the VFW auxiliary operated a lunch counter, pop stand, and Bingo game downtown.

One accident marred the two day show events when Jimmy Saye was gored high on a leg by a steer he was bull dogging. He was given emergency treatment at Broadus and later removed to Miles City hospital where he was reported to be resting comfortably and getting along fine after considerable loss of blood.
