Letters To The Editor

Dear Billy,

I read your recent article about the EMS and traffic in this area. I have written to the Department of Transportation twice and they said they were going to analyze the situation.

It is tragic that 5 young people have had to die on Highway 212 in the last year and a half, and there is not any indication of any improvement in the future. It is 100 miles from Ashland to Alzada with not 1 passing lane.

I used to go to basketball games in Broadus, it is 30 miles to my turnoff and I would count 30 semis in the 30 miles. If I go toward Crow Agency, it is 65 miles and I count 65 to 70 semis going that way.

The road is dangerous as nobody drives the 65 mph speed limit. There is only 1 patrolman in Broadus and he can’t monitor 4 roads!

SE Mont has been on the short end of things, but roads should not be one of them. I think letter writing would maybe wake up the Dept to the conditions we drive under.

Thanks for listening to my concerns!

Marian Hanson
