Ellory Mills from Wyoming, atop 4 year old mare "Sasha" (aka Puddin') won the 2023 Powder River Working Horse Show, winning a custom saddle from Chip Graham.
The event was put on last Wednesday by the winner of last year's Working Horse Show, Carson Martinson. Mills will then be tasked with overseeing the event in 2024, as per tradition.
Events included ranch cutting, steer stopping, ranch cow horse, ranch horse conformation, and a trail class, as well as a breakaway roping category added for youth contestants.
The event is open for Powder River County residents, as well as those from surrounding counties in Montana and Wyoming.
Pete Walden won 2nd place, JD McGinley 3rd place, and 4th and 5th was a tie between Wyatt Glade and Nolan Reil. Taebyn McGinley won the youth category, and Laney Williams placed 2nd in the youth.
11 total riders competed in the event; 8 in the open class and 3 youth.
