SENIOR HAPPENINGS

By Tammy Jackman

It’s May and you all know what that means, yard work, brandings, flowers, warmer weather and senior trips!

We finished up the SAIL exercises on the 26th. We will now have chair yoga on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 am until this Fall when Julie starts the SAIL exercises again. Come check out the yoga, Cressi is amazing.

We are back to having our Ladies Lunch Out and in May it will be on the 18th at PR Lanes at noon. We would love to have some new ladies come to join us. Cressi and Adam will be at the congregate meal on the 10th at about 11 am to do blood pressures. We are hoping to get more accurate readings before lunch is eaten and card playing begins.

Stitching and Lunch will be on the 9th and 23rd. Bring in some crocheting, embroidery or any other hand work you have and join us. We enjoy a morning of visiting, laughing, sharing stitching ideas and then have lunch at noon. Bunco will be on the 25th at 1 pm we would love to have some more people come down to join us. It’s a fun afternoon of rolling dice and lots of laughter.

Here is what many have been asking about, OUR FIRST TRIP! We will be going to Sheridan on May 11th to visit the King Ropes Museum and the Trail End Historic Site. If you would like to go, please contact Tammy at 436-2635 and I will get you on the list. It should be a fun and interesting day. Our trip in June will be to Forsyth to see the Bob Watts murals and then to the Range Riders Museum, so be thinking about if you would like to go on that one. It will be on the 22nd.

There are a couple of ladies, Lori Dinstel and Ginger Johnstone who have kept the center supplied with eggs, dozens and dozens of eggs. Thank you, ladies, so much for those donations. Michelle Wilson and Sharon Billing donated some items to the food pantry this month and Kenny Babb brought in the most delicious canned cherries, that’s what the ladies say anyway. Thank you all for your donations they help out the food pantry immensely.

Linda Wolff will be at the center on the 17th. If you need to see her, please contact Tammy at 436-2635 for an appointment. There are a couple of appointment times left.

If you would like to have help paying your internet service, you may qualify for a monthly discount on a new or existing service plan. To apply, visit AffordableConnectivity. gov or call 1-877-384-2575, to see if you qualify. I do have a senior citizen that is using this and the savings is significant. We will also be having an EYEGLASS CLINIC on the 10th at 1 pm at the senior center. If you qualify this program will pick up whatever medicare does not when purchasing new glasses. It is well worth coming in to check and see.

We still have a bunch of food boxes here, so if you need some extra grocery help please stop in and grab one. With every new shipment I can get fresh fruit and veggies but I have to order a pallet so let’s get these boxes outta here.

CONGREGATE MEAL:

5/10—Tomato Soup, Chicken with Stuffing, Green Beans, M&M Oat Bars

5/17—Broccoli Cheese Soup, Ham & Cheese Sliders, Hashbrown Casserole, Strawberry Bliss

5/24—Potato Soup, Hamburger & Fries, Ice Cream Sundaes

5/31—Veggie Beef Soup, Baked Potato Bar, Fruit Pizza

Just a reminder the center will be closed on Monday, May 29th in observance of Memorial Day. Tammy will be out of the office at noon on the 17th and all day on the 23rd for Dr. appointments.
