“One of our team members got 139,000 steps in a single week,” explained Mary Rumph, Team Biddle Calving Crew, “Evan’s job of night calver gives him an impressive number of steps each week. I don’t think he sleeps.”
The Biddle Calving Crew has a healthy lead in the Steps for Charity team challenge, racking up steps and garnering support for their charity, the Biddle Community Heritage Center (BCHC).
The BCHC is the social hub of the community where numerous wedding receptions, school plays, community dances and end of life celebrations have occurred since it was built by community members and volunteers more than 30 years ago. Biddle Calving Crew members who chose the BCHC charity are Owen, Mary, Jackie and Evan Rumph.
“We love our community center and it takes funds to keep it maintained and repaired,” added Rumph.
Scramble for A Cure is another great local charity chosen by the C&T’s Team Members. The Scramble 4 a Cure, an important community tradition, was organized years ago by Tyler Gardner and the Gardner family to support individuals battling cancer and to give back to the community which is exactly why the C&T’s Team chose the charity.
“Scramble for A Cure helps so many people in our community and all the money raised stays local,” explained Cynde Jo Gatlin, C&T’s Team Member adding that Tyler continues to do a tremendous job of creating this super fun and very well-organized golf tournament. The fund-raising event takes place at the Rolling Hills Golf Course the first week of August and raises thousands of dollars for cancer-stricken families. C&T’s Team members include Cynde Jo Gatlin, Tracey Gorder, Tommie Rousseau and Tim Stradinger.
Only two weeks are left in the Steps for Charity team challenge. All teams and individuals must report their steps ending March 31st by Monday, April 3rd.
