Stepping for Charity is a “No Brainer”
Supporting local charities and walking for better health are great life choices. They are “no brainers” when it comes to making healthy, good-for-you decisions. Celebrating February 27th, National No-Brainer Day, is easy when it comes to Steps for Charity, which was created to encourage walking and to support local charities.
Ronald McDonald House is the charity highlighted this week. The charity was chosen by Patten Adventurers, a family team made up of Ben and Cullen Patten and LaTeshia and Grace Cameron. They chose Ronald McDonald House because it helps people from rural Montana in times of need. The Ronald McDonald House helps families physically, economically, and emotionally during their health care journey. A Ronald McDonald House program reduces stress and financial burden for families when they must travel far from home to access medical care for their child.
Last week’s cold blast created havoc with teams trying to get in their steps.
“It was much easier to stay in doors and play with grandkids,” explained one team member.
“Watching heifers calving on cameras is reducing my steps,” explained another.
If the weather turns again, and we all hope it won’t, hallways at the high school are available for walking either 7 to 7:45 am in the morning or 4 to 6 in the evenings. Turn steps in at http://www.powderrivertrails.com or call the MSU Extension – Powder River County at 406-436-2424.
