STEPPING Up for CHARITY
By PR Extension Office
And, they’re off! 80 people on 20 teams are STEPPING up to take the Steps for Charity Challenge. Each week in February and March, participants will walk to the post office, walk during coffee breaks, walk the hallways and walk to the calving barn. Those 80 people will track ALL those steps to determine the winning team and the charity that will receive the most money. It’s a win-win for charities and for increasing the physical activity of the team members.
Eleven, well-deserving, local charities were selected by the twenty teams. Each week, the charities, their teams, and members will be highlighted in the newspaper.
The Amanda Gaskill Spay & Neuter Fund is the first charity highlighted and was chosen by two Steps for Charity teams. These teams chose the fund “to help animals who don’t have a human advocate.”
The teams and the members walking for the AMANDA GASKILL Spay & Neuter Fund are:
The Holy Walkamolies, who include Alyson and Raymond Ragsdale, Josie Morris and Kelda Page and is sponsored by Gone Ropin’ Construction; The Walkaholics, are Jayme Gaskill, Amanda Mills, Jennifer Bird and Brittney Dinardi.
It’s great walking when the weather is sunny and ice and mud puddles are not lining our paths. But when the weather outside is challenging, the high school hallways are a great option. Walking in the hallways has been approved between 7:00 and 7:45 a.m. each weekday mornings or between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. during weekday evenings whether you are on a Steps for Charity team or not.
Cheer on the teams, donate to the charities or simply walk. Everyone can join the Steps for Charity Challenge fun. Steps for Charity is sponsored by the MSU Extension – Powder River County and Powder River Trails.
