Broadus Bumblebee Daycare and Powder River Petals combined to hold the second annual "Fall Festival", on Saturday at the courthouse in Broadus. The event featured family fun events including hayrides on a flatbed pulled by a tractor, a face painting booth, an event where kids tried to eat doughnuts off a suspended line without using their hands, bobbing for apples, gunny sack races, a bean bag toss, and a photo booth with a fall theme. A free will donation pick a pumpkin setup was also available.
Fall weather made for a need for warm food, and the chili cook off at the Fall Festival pitted area residents' favorite chili recipes to the test, with Kate Irish' spicy chili coming out of top as the judges' favorite. Second place went to Matt Zellers' recipe, and third to Kinzie Randall's chili. The winning recipes received prizes of $500, $250, and $100, respectively.
A cornhole tournament for adults was won by Matt Zellers and Brandon Schuetzle, with Lee Randall and Kyle Portnell placing second.
A raffle for a grill donated by Grant's Hardware was won by Levi Mitchell.
Numerous local businesses and individuals donated money for the daycare at the event, which by all accounts was a lovely day of family fun for all.
