There’s been a murder in the Powder River Historical Museum!! Join us next Saturday evening, October 29th, for “Mystery at the Museum”, a family-friendly, Halloween event.
This “Clue” inspired “whodunit” fundraiser is promising to be a mysterious and spooky night at the museum!
Visitors are welcome to arrive any time between 6pm and 9pm to join an approximately hour-long Mystery Tour. Tickets are sold at the door: $5 per child (12 and under), $10 per adult, or $25 per family (2 parents and up to 5 children). Last tour leaves at 9pm and doors close at 10pm.
Guests can select either the adult or kid version of the mystery, then follow their ghostly museum guide through dimly lit rooms on a flashlight tour while searching for clues to solve the mystery! In the adult version, as in the game of “Clue”, the goal is to determine through process of elimination who the suspect is, what weapon was used, and the location of the crime.
While looking for your clue cards, our museum guides will share stories from the past about the possible murder suspects and locations. Learn local tales about “Little Joe” Chiesa, Sheriff Claude Anderson, Charlotte Doonan, the Ridge Store, the Jailhouse, and Miller Hospital, just to name a few! The kid version of the mystery is a simplified scavenger hunt, where kids search for items marked with a jack-o-lantern tag in order to solve a “punny” Halloween riddle.
Following your tour, enjoy spook-tacular treats prepared by our museum volunteers and find out if your powers of observation were enough to detect the killer!
Anyone who correctly solves the mystery will be entered to win the Halloween-themed prizes donated by Kate & Delany Ruland and Heather & Maddie Brownfield.
As another spooky treat, historical author Shane Dunning will be telling ghost stories that you can enjoy either before or after your Mystery Tour.
Visitors who prefer not to dare the darkness on tour are welcome to enjoy treats and ghost stories in our reception area with free-will donation, but please keep in mind that all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Our facility runs entirely on donations, so please take this opportunity to bring your family out for a fun “Mystery at the Museum” in support of our local non-profit organization! We hope to see you there!
