Several high-profile incidents occurred last week which were responded to by Powder River County EMS medical providers and the Sheriff’s Department.
On October 1st around 11:30 pm, Powder River County EMS provided mutual aid to Campbell County, WY EMS and Fire as well as a responder from Biddle to a single vehicle rollover on the Garst Road, south of Ranch Creek. While on scene, Powder River County EMS providers assisted in the evaluation, treatment, and transport of a single patient to Campbell County Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
Last Tuesday afternoon, a man described by bystanders as late middle age, slender, and sporting a beard wandered into several local establishments around the courthouse square including the Library, St. V’s, Bella Si, Broadus Insurance, and the Big Sky Bar. Witnesses in the businesses noted the fellow was seen to be bleeding from the head, and the authorities were alerted. The man was reportedly in decent spirts and mostly friendly, but appeared intoxicated. He also reportedly claimed the wounds had been inflicted by another party.
First on scene to assist the individual in front of the IOIA building were Powder River County EMS providers, who attempted to evaluate the individual. Powder River County Sheriff’s department members arrived later to aid the situation. The individual was witnessed as being combative with the EMS staff, referring to Powder River County EMS Director and Paramedic Adam Johnson as a “demonic leprechaun from Hell”. He later calmed down, and the individual was transported from the scene via ambulance to a hospital for further evaluation and treatment of the reported injuries; we did not receive a name as the individual was not charged with a crime.
Later in the week, the Sheriff’s Department apprehended Colton Grant, age 20, of Miles City on an Intimidation charge, stemming from an incident where Grant allegedly pointed a gun at an individual on Haston Street near the IGA. Grant was later released on $10,000 bond, and the case is expected to be transferred to District Court. Intimidation carries felony penalties if found guilty.
